“A pleasant ambush”
On the nosing you are blinded by a flash-bang of orange, cardamon and a hint of cordite. When tasting, the gin bursts through your trap peppering you with sustained, accurate fire that gives way to a body of cinnamon and cardamom. The finish has a zesty orange citrus and the sweet smell of victory.
Points of interest: the flavour of the horopito leaf comes from maceration. However, pepper burn from the horopito comes at the very end when we add a single leaf to the bottle.
Julien has spent years developing this recipe.
The horopito is foraged by Michael while running in the Silver Peaks.
This pairs well with...
East Imperial Yuzu tonic adding sweet citrus of yuzu and is the only gin we know that gets cardamon aromas through the tonic water.
